The pieces that make each one
For Robin Hood, start with a green tunic and a feathered hat. Add a belt, brown boots and a toy bow and quiver. Green and brown do most of the work.
Maid Marian is recognised by a flowing medieval-style dress, often with a hooded cloak or a simple circlet. Little John needs a rough tunic, a belt and a wooden-look staff. Friar Tuck wears a brown robe tied with a rope belt. A tonsure-style wig or a bald cap completes it, and it is best worn with a sense of humour.
The Sheriff looks best in dark, rich colours with a long coat, a chain or badge and a stern expression.
Finishing touches to make at home
A hat feather is easy. Tuck a real or craft feather into the hatband and fix it with a few stitches or a safety pin. For a quiver, roll stiff card into a tube, cover it with brown paper and add a string strap. Keep any arrows soft or made of card, especially around younger children.

Check the size chart against your child's measurements rather than their age, and leave room for layers underneath and for easy movement.
